About
I’m Pavlos Nicolaou, a computer scientist based in Cyprus. I’ve spent most of my working life building software that real people had to use: mobile apps, tools that collect data and make sense of it, and machine learning models that had to keep working once they left the lab. I work in English and Greek.
I started doing this work because of what I kept seeing in businesses around me. A lot of the working week still goes on things a computer could do: retyping numbers from one system into another, answering the same question for the tenth time, pulling a report together from five spreadsheets on a Friday afternoon. AI has made far more of that work possible to automate than it was a few years ago. But most businesses don’t have anyone whose job it is to sit down, look at how the work actually gets done and fix it.
That’s the work I like doing. Not a presentation about what AI might do one day, but the Tuesday afternoon version: this report, this inbox, this spreadsheet. Can software take part of it off your plate, and can the people doing it now trust what it does? Sometimes the honest answer is no, and I’ll say so.
How I work
It starts with you telling me about your work. I read every answer myself and reply with what I’d suggest.
If it’s worth a closer look, we talk it through on a free call, or I come and see the work in place if you’re in Cyprus. If there’s something to build, you get a fixed price before anything starts. Once it’s running, I show your team how to use it. If you want, I stay on through a monthly plan: regular check-ins, fixes when something breaks and the next thing to improve.
The aim is for the work to stay done, and for your team to trust it. Not a one-off training day that everyone has forgotten by the following month.
What I won’t do
I don’t resell anyone’s software, and I take no commission on the tools I recommend. I won’t automate something just because it can be automated, and I won’t pretend AI is magic. Some tasks it does well, some it does badly and some it should stay away from. Part of the job is telling you which is which.
Tell me about your work. If I’m not the right person for what you need, I’ll tell you that too.
